About Me
My Story
Hi, my name is Hong-Yung "Henry" Dai. I am a gameplay programmer previously from The Guildhall at SMU and Robot Entertainment. Before Guildhall, I worked in Taiwan for 4 years, first as employee at ATop Tech, then running my own studio, operated as a contractor for web, windows, and android app development.
I like playing and making video games since high school. Because of that, I choose Computer Science as my major in undergrad. After getting my Bachelors from Chung-Hua University (Sep. 2009), I started to work as a programmer in Taiwan. I spent most of my off-work time working on my personal game project. However, my knowledge of game design is insufficient, plus I wanted more experience related to game design, so I went to The Guildhall at SMU, filling the parts of knowledge that I was missing.
After graduating from SMU Guildhall in May 2016, I joined Robot Entertainment, worked there for about a year as a gameplay programmer worked on 'Orcs Must Die! Unchained'. Shortly after OMDU launched, I joined BonusXP Inc. in May 2017 and worked on 'Hero Academy 2' till now. I am interested in all aspects of game programming, whether it is gameplay, AI, networking, UI design, tools, graphics, or engine programming. I consider myself a generalist. I researched as much as possible on different areas related to games during my time at The Guildhall and Robot, and loved all the problems game programming presented so far.
